Re: E-mails to www.CharityWishList.ca

I  enjoy hearing from you. I would like to share excerpts with you from an e-mail I received on December 15th, regarding the impact that your donations and this site is having on our community.

An e-mail from someone who works for an organization that helps others:

Hi Michelle,

I wanted to tell you just how much I have appreciated the donations you have sent our way.  I am a Transitional and Housing Support Worker at Immigrant Women Services Ottawa, and I have to tell you that our clients and their families have been so pleased with the items that have been provided through your agency.  In fact, I think the service you are providing is really important, as it is much needed in the community.

As I mentioned to you earlier, I work specifically with immigrant women who are fleeing abuse.  Once these women have developed the courage to break away from the violence they are experiencing in their homes, they are so motivated to create a safe and happy home, not only for themselves, but often for their children as well.  Many of these women are then forced to access social assistance to allow them to achieve financial independence from their abusers.  The unfortunate part however, is that their social assistance cheques often do not cover the expenses of furnishing a new residence, and so many of my clients and their children are living in places that are virtually empty.  This is why your service is so meaningful to both myself, and I am sure the women and children I work with.

If you could send more willing donors our way, I would be most grateful.  At the moment, I am working on a partnership with another agency in the hopes that together we can start a free pick-up and delivery service for our clients.  Hopefully, we will be able to achieve this goal, and in the meantime, I will pull on some of my other resources to try and deliver any furniture that is donated.

Thank you again for the work that you are doing.
